2-Hour Leather Workshop in Hoi An

Blue leather card holder with cards for a 2-hour leather workshop in Hoi An

Pick your leather. Make it yourself. Take it home from Hoi An.

In about two hours, you’ll shape something of your own — starting from a few loose pieces of leather, ending with an object you can carry, use, and think back on every time you see it.

You don’t need to know anything about leather beforehand. You don’t need steady hands. You just need to sit down and begin.

You won't be watching someone else work — you're the one holding the knife and the needle.

A quick note: The photos show the general shape and structure only. Leather colors and textures vary depending on what is available at the time.

Is Two Hours Really Enough?

Usually, yes — and either way, you’ll leave with something finished.

How long it actually takes comes down to two things.

What you choose to make. Some 2-hour projects, like the snap-closure card holder, move quickly. Others — the knife sheath, or the wallet with the coin pouch — have a few more pieces to bring together and ask for a little more concentration, and may take a bit longer to finish.

How you like to work. Some people move quickly and like to keep things simple. Others slow down and want every stitch just right. Both are fine — your instructor will match your pace so the piece comes out well either way.

If you’d rather take your time and make something with more going on — a strap, more compartments, a few layers of leather, more to stitch by hand — the 4-hour workshop gives you the room for that.

Who Tends to Enjoy This

  • First-timers. No experience needed — you start from zero.
  • Couples and friends. You share the room, but each person walks out with something that’s theirs alone.
  • People coming on their own. This is a workshop that holds up fine solo — it’s really just you and your hands.
  • Families with kids. Children join often; just mention it when you book so we can plan around it.
  • Anyone short on time in Hoi An. Two hours still leaves you most of the day for the Ancient Town.
  • Rainy days. Everything happens indoors, so the weather doesn’t get a vote.

Quick and Compact, or a Little More Time?

2 Hours 4 Hours
Good for Fitting a real, hands-on project into a tight schedule Slowing down and taking on something with more detail
What you can make Card holders, small wallets, and compact leather pieces Passport covers, larger wallets, small bags, and other multi-part designs
Structure Fewer layers and fewer parts — designed to finish in about two hours Can include several layers, a strap, more compartments, and more hand-stitching
Time About 2 hours About 4 hours, roughly half a day

Either way, you’ll leave with something you made yourself, from start to finish.
The difference is really just how much you want to take on.

A Few Questions People Ask

Can I switch projects partway through if the one I picked turns out harder than I expected?

It’s best to settle on your project before you start, since each one uses different pieces and different leather cut to different sizes — once you’ve begun cutting, switching isn’t really possible. That said, if partway through it feels like too much, or you’d rather not do every remaining step yourself, just tell your instructor. We can step in more and help you through the harder parts so you still leave with the piece you chose.

How do I book?

Through GetYourGuide, Airbnb Experience, or by emailing us directly. Our listing is called Meadows Leather Workshop on both platforms—simply search for that name in either app to find us.

What if I booked the wrong time or need to change it?

If you booked through GetYourGuide or Airbnb, first check your booking on the platform. If you are still within its cancellation period—usually more than 24 hours before the workshop—you can  rebook the correct time.

If the platform no longer allows you to make changes, contact us as soon as possible. We will try to move you to another available time slot.

Closing

You don’t need a full day to try your hand at leatherwork. Two hours is enough — enough to choose your leather, pick up the tools, make the first cuts, punch the first holes, and watch something small come together in your own hands.
